SUMMARY OF SERVICE

Real Time - PCR
An ABI 7900HT is available to researchers for their real-time PCR needs.  The 7900HT has a wavelength detection of 500-660 nm, allowing for multiple chemistry detection, including TAQMAN® and SYBR® Green.  Applications include real-time PCR, SNP detection and +/- assays.  The 7900HT is equipped with robotic capabilities for multiple plate scanning.

PRICES

University users with a CUFS number - $7/hour

Affiliated company - $100/hour personnel time and $60/hour instrumentation time

External user with purchase order - $100/hour personnel time and $60/hour instrumentation time

If you do not cancel 24 hours ahead of time, you will be charged for your reserved time slot.

HOW TO ORDER

What needs to be done to receive this service?

If you have technical questions regarding your experiment, please contact the ABI Specialist (William Kiffmeyer) at 1-800-248-0281 extension 7117 or kiffmewr@appliedbiosystems.com.

Plate and optical cover kit need to be ordered from ABI (www.appliedbiosystems.com)

    • optical adhesive cover kit – part number 4313663

Please call 612-625-7736 to schedule instrumentation time.  There are 3 time slots available each day; they are 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.  If you are a new 7900 user, we will show you how to set up your RT-PCR run and how to transfer your data.  After your first run, you can run the instrument on your own.  Please keep your plate on a base until you load it on to the 7900 to prevent fluorescent contamination on your plate and in the instrument.  Please let a staff member know if you are having any issues with the 7900.

Where can samples be dropped-off?

Where can results be obtained?

    • Results are stored for 30 days on the 7900 computer.  Users need to provide a CD-R to transfer results.

What is the turnaround time?

    • Depends on the length of run.
